South Gate vs. West Gate: Which Panda Base Entrance Should You Pick?
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding expanded massively into two connected zones. If your #1 goal is seeing celebrity panda He Hua ("Hua Hua") at No. 6 Giant Panda Villa, you MUST enter via the original South Gate (南大门) at 07:30 AM opening and walk straight to No. 6 Villa.
Note that No. 6 Villa is closed every Monday for enclosure maintenance, even though the rest of the Panda Base remains open.
